Thankful

Nov 26, 2013 | Professional Life

For now, the house is quiet.

I’m sitting in my home office, looking out the window, watching whatever that precipitation is (Snow? Sleet? Cold rain?) falling from the sky, enjoying the silence.

It’s been a crazy couple of days, what with all the cleaning and baking and preparing for a houseful of guests.

A little more than 24 hours from now, the house will be full of family, ready to celebrate the holiday and all we have to be thankful for.

This year, more than ever, I have so much to be thankful for.

Yes, of course I’m thankful for my family and friends and all of the blessings I’ve been afforded this year, but I’m feeling especially grateful right now for my community.

That community includes you. It was just about two months ago that I decided to make a serious attempt to launch my own content strategy and consulting business. Here I am, two months later, still going.

And that’s primarily due to you. Thank you for referring me to your clients and colleagues. Thank you for connecting me with amazing people here in Nashville. Thank you for taking the time to sit and chat over coffee.

No, I’m not just writing this because Dave Delaney told me to in Sunday’s newspaper. (Although that’s never a bad reason either … his suggestions are always good ones!) It just seemed apt in this silence to take a moment and be grateful. That’s all … nothing more.

So, thank you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.
